Daily Journal Entry:

We do not have to rush out of bed this morning, so we laze around a bit.  We get up at 8:10 AM and pack up our bags.  At 8:30 AM we have breakfast and are ready to head into town at 9:40 AM.  As it is our turn to cook again, we need to do our shopping for three meals, starting with lunch today.  We get into town at 10 AM and pick up all that we need, including our surprise meat for the evening - camel meat.  It is cheaper than beef and it looked quite good and the butcher ground it up for us into mince.  The vegetable market was quite good, but a bit more expensive then elsewhere (not surprising, given the distances the stuff needs to be trucked in)  After doing our shopping, we stopped for a mint tea and wrote some postcards.

At 12:05 PM we headed back to the camp site and began to prepare the lunch for the group.  We decide to have tuna sandwiches with chicken curry soup made from last night's left-overs.  Simple, but filling.  We hung around and relaxed that afternoon as we had to cook dinner.  We went for a short walk on the beach.

That evening, we had Dutch food, a dish proposed by Marjo, the other member of our cook group.  It is a simple, national dish which consists of one big pot filled, in order, with potatoes, carrots and onions, with a bit of water.  It is then left to cook over the fire for one-plus hour.  At the same time we are making meat balls out of the camel meat.  This are cooked and then put in a broth (which had good Dutch beer in it).  When the met balls are ready, the contains of the pot are mashed and mixed up into one big "hodge-podge".  It was excellent and the camel meat was very good.  We had stewed apples for dessert.

After cleaning up, a bunch of us relaxed around the fire.  Mark decided he wanted to learn a bit more about everyone, so we all took turns telling about ourselves for one minute, and then everyone had three minutes to question.  It was very fun and interesting.  We also star-gazed and looked for shooting stars (and saw a few).  We went to bed a relatively late 11 PM.
