We spend the morning heading
further south. After a quick breakfast that we prepare, we pack up the
truck and head off. We stop for a nice view of the towers. Along
the way we also spot many of the Guanacos - the wild cousins of the
Llamas. These animals are all part of the Camelid family.

After about a 5 hour drive, we arrive in Punta
Arenas - we drive up to Dinka's house and check-in. It is a strange
little B&B - the lady that runs it is quite colorful and has numerous
paintings of herself from her younger days. She has lost some of her
old glory, but you can still see some of the old elegance. The house
itself is a warren of hall ways and rooms that have closets for toilets and
strange colors and wall paper. But it is safe and friendly, so we are
happy.

We spend the afternoon checking
out the town. We change some money and wander through the town
center. Then we head on a long walk to the outskirts of the
city. Along the way we check out a supermarket to see what kind of
wine they have. We reach our goal, which is the Zona Franca (duty free
zone). We head in and it is a huge shopping complex. It is
packed with shoppers. And you can buy whatever you want and
exit. But there is no local wine there, so we head back to the
supermarket and buy a case of wine to replenish our stockpile.

We return to the hotel (taking a
taxi due to the case of wine and other shopping) to take a shower before
dinner. Some of us head out to a seafood restaurant - we are in a port
on the sea, so we decide that might be a good choice. And the
restaurant that Lonely Planet wrote about was quite good.
