The morning is spent driving to our next destination.  Along the way we do some food shopping at one of the bigger towns that we pass through.  At 2:30 PM we arrive at Parque Nacional Los Alerces, where we set up camp in Lago Verdes campsite.  We quickly prepare lunch for the group and the everyone gets ready to go for a walk.

While lunch is being prepared, however, some members of the group are trying to gather fire wood.  In the process of trying to get one huge branch, one person has a bad tumble, badly straining his back muscles.  He will be out of action for a while, but we do have a doctor with us and she, with the help of Paolo's stockpile, administers the appropriate advice and medicine.  We head off for our walk late (we had to take everything out of the back locker to get to the bag), and we take a back way that we are told is a short cut.

In the end, after scrambling up steep slopes and grappling with trees, Jacqui and Lars decide to head back.  We have to prepare dinner anyway.

That evening we prepare hodge podge, the dish that Marjo introduced to us on our Trans-Africa.  We made it in her memory and, while it was not as good as hers, it was delicious.  After cleaning up, we opened another bottle of wine and headed down to our tent that is set up along the lake shore.  We enjoy sipping the wine while watching the sky slowly darken, the clouds race across the sky and the stars slowly come out.  The lake became dark.  We went to bed with our door open so that we could continue to watch the night sky.
