Daily Journal Entry:

We have to get up early this morning as we have a few errands to run in town.  First we have to pick-up the video tape we had ordered from the desert activities yesterday - sand boarding and quad biking.  We also needed to change some more money - we are going through it quicker than expected.  On the way back, Lars wanders through the streets enjoying some of the German architecture that has been exported to this remote desert town in the former colony.

Just shortly after getting back to the campsite and the truck, we are off at 10 AM.  We spend most of the rest of the day traveling, driving towards Sesriem and the Namib desert as exemplified by Sossusvlei.  We stop for lunch by the road side in the hills that we are driving through.  A storm is brewing and to see the clouds developing in the harsh sun light was amazing.  We had to prepare and eat lunch quickly, however, as we did not want to get caught in a rain shower - we were lucky as they passed us by.

We get to Sesriem Campsite at later afternoon and after setting up the campsite, we need to cook dinner.  This will be the last meal that we need to cook on this trip.  We have a few drinks to celebrate - which makes it all a bit easier.  Not sure how the food tasted to everyone else, but ...

Just as we finished serving dinner and started to clean up, a number of people from one of the campsites nearby came and asked us if we had any food to spare.  They are a group of students traveling by car and they do not have any food left.  We are happy to share our leftovers with them.  They are from all over, including South Africa, Switzerland, Ireland, etc.  They seem to be having a great time.

We went to the bar for a few drinks, but when we got to the bar, there were what seemed like thousands of bugs all over the place that had been attracted by the lights.  They were every where - flying, crawling and jumping.  We quickly grabbed a few drinks and then headed outside to where there were no lights other than the stars in the sky above.  After a few drinks, we head off to our tent early as we have a very early start tomorrow morning.
