Weather: Today was quite nice.  Mostly clear and sunny. Started off warm, and then got hot.  In the evening a few more clouds came in, and it got a bit cooler with strong breezes.

Daily Journal Entry:

Got up this morning a little worried how the tent had done through the night and the rainfall (which was quite heavy at times).  But the tent did quite well, and it was even quite dry by the time we had to pack up.  We did not get wet, even though some other people had problems with their tents.

We had to prepare breakfast for the group - we decided on banana pancakes.  They were made from scratch, and I believe they turned out quite well.

We left Asilah at 9:40 AM for Rabat, the capital of Morocco.  It has had a varied history as the capital, with Rabat last being named the capital by the French when they moved it from Fes.  When Morocco gained their independence, the capital remained in Rabat.

We are staying at a campsite across the river in Sale, which is the sister city.  It is a bit smaller, but quite nice.  After a lunch at the truck, we walked into Sale and went around the Medina (the old city).  It was OK- not too special, but there were some interesting things.  We were able to get a nice view of Rabat from the city walls (see photo).

We then went to the Medersa, which is the old Moslem university where scholars studied the religion.  They are famous for being very well decorated, and this is no exception.  On the upper floors they have cells where the scholars would stay and study.  We could also walk up to the roof for a view of the surroundings.

We then took it easy for the rest of the evening, having a very nice dinner at the truck, relaxed, had a drink and worked on our journal.
