Weather: Clear, sunny and very hot, with a nice breeze.  Cool in the night.

Daily Journal Entry:

We had to get up early this morning as it is our turn to cook breakfast for the group - and it was tough to get up as during the night there were a bunch of dogs barking and howling throughout the night.  And in the gorge, the sound reverberated around the canyon walls making it tough to sleep.  This morning we cooked pancakes and used the left over rice to make up a batch of rice cakes.

After breakfast, everyone headed off in different groups up into the gorge for a walk.  As we took some time to clean up after cooking, we decided to go for a slow, leisurely walk.  We walked about 5-6 kilometers up the gorge to a small auberge where we had a drink and a small pre-lunch snack.  It was a small, stone hut where the owner had a few drinks and some light food.  He was very friendly and it was nice and cool inside the hut.

The gorge is very beautiful, with interesting rock formations, a few trees here and there, and a dry river bed running through it.  There are a number of trails heading off in different directions, but we decide to turn back.  On the way back, we stop to eat our pack lunch.

After getting back to the campsite, we take off our boots and cool off our feet in the stream.  It is very relaxing.  The rest of the day, we take it easy, work on our journals, take a shower, etc.  After dinner, we go to sleep in the hotel restaurant.
