We were up at 6:30 AM this morning, but laid around until around 7:30 AM, when we packed up our tent.  Following breakfast, we broke camp and headed off for our next destination.  We had quite a long drive. At noon, we pulled off the road and drove cross country to get a nice view overlooking an oasis.  While there, we called Carl Jr. to wish him a happy birthday.

At 1:00 PM, we stopped in Zeido, where we had lunch and the cook group did their shopping.  We had a Tajine in one of the small shops lining the main street.  After departing at 2:30 PM, we drove until we came to the Ziz Gorges, which we drove through, stopping for some photos.  It is a very beautiful drive, as we curved through the gorge, with its steep walls on each side.

At 5:30 PM, we arrived at the campsite at Meski Oasis.  Meski is an oasis near Er-Rachida, an old French administrative and military outpost (now a large city due to the reservoirs built in the 1960's following heavy flooding).  Meski is a nice quiet, little spot in the desert where there is a spring and, therefore, lots of vegetation.  It is a nice spot to camp for the night.  There is an old, abandoned Casbah here, which we walk towards this evening so that we can see it in the sunset.  We will explore it the next day.

We have a quiet evening.
