Today we hope to cross the border
into Burkina Faso. We break camp and are off just before 8 AM.
We stop in San about half an hour later for the cook group to do its
shopping. We wander around the market, but do not find much of
interest to us to buy, other then the usual sights, sounds and smells.
We head off an hour later.

We arrive at the Mali side of the
border at noon and quite quickly get through the formalities in less than
half an hour. We then drive towards Burkina Faso, but before arriving
at their border, we stop for lunch at 12:30 PM. We find a very
pleasant spot by a water hole and set up the cook gear in the shade of a
couple of trees.

About an hour later we carry on
towards the border, arriving shortly. Here the formalities are also
quite straight forward. Between immigration, road tax and customs (including
getting the truck in), it all takes less than 45 minutes. It is
interesting to note that the border officials had a good laugh when they
asked where was Malta and they were told it was a small island - they let
Joseph in.

We arrived at Bobo-Dioulasso at
4:30 PM, where we will be putting up at Casa Africa for the next two
nights. Bobo is the second largest city in Burkina Faso and means
"Home of the Bobo Dioulas", one of the major tribes. We
splurge and take
a room with a fan for the night. Before dinner we work on our journals
and after dinner we have a few beers and relax.
